Being Neighbourly
As a tenant of Aberdeenshire Housing Partnership you signed a tenancy agreement containing your conditions of tenancy. These conditions are intended to allow all residents peaceful enjoyment of their home.
It is a breach of your tenancy agreement if you, a member of your household, or your visitors cause a nuisance or annoyance to neighbours. To avoid difficulties with your neighbours please show some consideration for people living close to you.
Below are some handy tips on how to be a good neighbour.
Noise
- Place noisy household equipment such as washing machines, dishwashers, televisions and hi-fis away from adjoining walls.
- Ensure that TVs and hi-fi speakers are raised off the floor
- Fit carpets rather than laminated flooring or leaving bare floorboards- especially if you have neighbours under you
- Keep television and music volume as low as possible, especially late at night. Set bass levels low on televisions and stereos
- If you like loud music, use headphones
- Tell your neighbours if you are having a party or BBQ- better still invite them!
- If you are doing any DIY, do the noisiest jobs during the day. Avoid using power tools either early in the morning or late at night
Rubbish
- Wheelie Bins should be placed at the kerbside on the morning of collection. After collection, please take your bin back as soon as you can
- Items that can't be picked up normally can usually be uplifted by the Council in a special collection
Gardens
- If you have your own garden, it is your responsibility to keep it tidy
Children
- Do not allow your children to play, especially ball games, in the street or in car parking areas
- You are responsible for your child's behaviour and language while they are inside your house and while they are outside
- Teach your children to have respect for your neighbours and to be polite
Pets
- You must have permission to keep pets
- If your dog fouls in common areas, you must clean it up immediately
Car Parking
- Please park with consideration for other drivers; park within marked bays, do not double park or block anyone in
- Do not leave unroadworthy or untaxed cars in car parking areas or on your drive
- Do not park caravans within parking areas or in driveways except for preparation before travel
- If you do experience any anti social behaviour, then please contact your housing officer for an anti social behaviour pack.
